My journey

Hello, I am a graduate student at a public state university pursuing a Master of Science in Cybersecurity, with a focus on systems' security through secure programming. I decided to enter the field of cybersecurity after reading and watching countless books and movies about cyberpunk culture; I was fascinated by the idea of becoming a 'hacker.' Once I made the decision to become a 'hacker,' I began researching what it takes to achieve that goal. I started learning about programming, Linux, networking, security tools, and security architecture, but it still didn’t seem like enough to truly become a 'hacker.'

So, I decided to earn a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity to supplement what I had already learned. Surely that would be enough to become the ultimate 'hacker,' I thought. But I was wrong. There is so much more to learn, even to be considered a beginner-level 'hacker,' let alone a full-fledged one.

Although I have learned a great deal throughout my studies, my knowledge is still at the beginner level, far from making me the super ultimate 'hacker' I aspire to be. Nonetheless, I am determined to achieve my goal. This year (2024), I enrolled in a Master’s in Cybersecurity with a thesis track to further expand my knowledge. I also plan to participate in hackathons and Capture The Flag (CTF) challenges on HackTheBox.

Additionally, I decided to create this website for two reasons: to cement what I’ve learned by attempting to simplify advanced cybersecurity concepts into concise blog posts, and to hold myself accountable by pledging to post at least one blog per week.

I hope that anyone who follows my journey in cybersecurity learns something and feels inspired to pursue a career in this fascinating field.
